DID YOU KNOW? HOW TO EASILY LOG A SERVICE REQUEST WITH THE CITY OF CAPE TOWN

Category Advice

While we all like to complain about how inefficient our local municipality can be, it's important to remember to acknowledge their efforts when they excel. One such area is the City of Cape Town's online portal allowing the public to log service requests.

If you've ever called the City of Cape Town's  0860 103089 to log a water leak or report a public green space that needs to be mowed, you'll have memories of a frustratingly long phone call where you may have received a reference number via sms, but to follow up on such, involved another such frustratingly long phone call. This system also relies on you knowing which prompts to follow, eg. "press 3 to report a water leak." The online portal allows for a far more efficient service where you can easily report anything from an "animal carcass removal" to a "wheelie bin" theft with dropdown menu options to ensure you're reporting the issue correctly. This ensures the issue is directed to the correct department. The portal also allows you to track the reported request via your reference number.

Please make use of this online service request portal which only entails 5-steps.
